After the monumental Deck of Cards release, The Quietus spends a year contemplating and designing two follow-up albums exploring twin schools of archaic electronic music: drones and beeps. The history of electronic music all started with a single tone. The Quietus pays tribute to the early pioneers of tone manipulation with 42 mind-expanding compositions. This double album incorporates soggy ribbon-controlled melodies, meandering hands-free feedback solos, inane filter abuse, resonant neuron synthesis, a fuckton of reverse delay, loop pedals and the occassional theremin. All tracks are performed live with no samples, computers, or keyboards. Only a single bludgeoned tone.
